Was US mislead by ‘Ahmadis aka Qadiyanis’ for Sanctions on Pakistan

By Dr Shahid Qureshi

“In July 2018, the Government of Pakistan Statistic division submitted to Chief Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqi at Islamabad High Court following data. According to which Qadiyani aka (Ahmadi) Population in Pakistan in 1981 – 104200 and 1998 – 286212. According to the court record until 2018, 10205 Muslims changed their faith following religious freedom and become Qadiyanis aka (Ahmadis). There were 4749 Muslims who become Christians, 2097 Hindu, Bhai 190 and 127 adopted different faiths. Individuals converted to Islam until 2018 including 6428 Qadiyanis, Bhais, 11697 Christians 9363, Hindus 3072 and other faiths 6843

On the information available now US sanctions on Pakistan on the basis of religious discrimination have no grounds at all apart from continuous bullying and policy of ‘do more’ like a slave master on the plantations. The Qaidyani or Ahmadi minority group US official was seen quoting as victim is actually ‘a perpetrator’ of discriminating and abusive to Muslims, Christians and others. Their population is growing, and people are changing their faiths as they wish because it is in the same family people moving around. It is not more than a immigration scam to get asylum

According to the official records of the British India Government, ‘Qadiyanis aka Ahmadis’, who requested the British Government to be counted as ‘separate entity’ on the basis of their beliefs from the Muslim Population. In 1908 census their population was recorded as Eighteen Thousand (18000) and Then in 1921 census, the number was thirty thousand (30,000) and in 1930 – 31, the total was fifty-six thousand (56000). Qadiyani leader Mirza Bashir has acknowledged this number in Al-Fazal dated 5 August 1934

Ahmadis or Qadiyanis as ‘their leader admitted himself ’were created by the British invaders in India to get various security and political objectives. This strategy still continues in various parts of the Muslim world by various occupiers from Palestine to Kashmir etc

With the number presented above it does not look like if there was discrimination on religious grounds as fact of the matter people in the same families practicing their qadiyani and non qadiyani faiths. The position taken by the US and others can have some politically pressurizing Pakistan but do not have any objective evidence. It is time that US and other Governments championing in religious freedom address the overwhelming increase in Islamophobia, burning of Mosques, offensive and abusive Cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad

It is very concerning and shows malice that: ‘US did not put similar sanctions on India where Muslims in Held Kashmir and India being killed for eating beef and their Mosques being demolished, Christian churches burnt, and people burnt alive, Sikh temple bombed and Sikh people being killed and tortured. Similarly, Palestinian Muslims and Christians are being humiliated and stopped practice their faith peacefully. We think US has lost the credibility as a fair partner and mediator to peace and defender of human rights

The Parliament of Pakistan in 1974, declared the ‘Ahmadis’ to be Non- Muslims owing to their views regarding the finality of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). This was done reluctantly when the head of the Ahmadi community deposed before the parliament that they consider those the non-Ahmadis as non-Muslims. In fact, their founder declared the Muslims who did not accept his prophet hood to be Kafir (infidels) a long time ago well before the partition of India. Qadiyani leader Mirza Ghulam Ahmad called Muslims who don’t accept him as true prophet are the sons of a Prostitute. The leader of the cult and his followers has similar abusive and provocative views about the Christians and Jesus Christ

Qadiyani (Ahmadis) do not consider non-Ahmadis as ‘Muslims’ but tell everyone that we have been discriminated against on the basis of our faith and beliefs. The reality is that they are forbidden to keep any kind of social contact with the non-Ahmadis on the ground of their faith. When they interact with non-Ahmadis for business or official reasons their belief is as if they are dealing with Christians, or Hindus. They never invite non-Ahmadis even to their funerals or give their sons and daughters in marriage. This recent reports in the Pakistani and international media were a spin created to gain sympathy about the Qadiyanis internationally and nationally as they seem to be discriminated by the larger Muslim group in Pakistan and around the world. The reality is totally opposite. It is a reverse discrimination. where a small minority is asserting its ‘exclusivity’ and being abusive to all faiths be Muslims or Christians or othe

The Qadiyani view of their relationship with rest of the Muslims was well summarised by their second caliph, Mirza Mahmud Ahmad: “Our worship has been separated from the non–Ahmadis, we are prohibited from giving our daughters (in marriage) to them and we have been stopped from offering prayers for their dead. What then left that we can do together? There are two kinds of ties: one religious the other mundane. The greatest expression of the religious bond is in common worship and in matters mundane, these are the ties of family and marriage. But then both are forbidden (haram) to us. If you say that we are permitted to take their daughter (in marriage), then I would reply that we are allowed to marry the daughters of Christians as well. If you say why do we Salam (salute) to non- Ahmadis, then the reply to this is that … the Prophet (Muhammad) has said Salam to the Jews… Thus the Promised Messiah (Mirza Ghulam Ahmad) has separated us, in all possible ways, from the others; and there is no kind of relationship which is particular to Muslims and we are not forbidden from (entering into) that”, (Kalimatul Fazsl’, by Mirza Mahmud Ahmad in Review of Religions)

As an open-minded and liberal Muslim leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah, father of the Pakistani nation, appointed Sir Zafarullah Khan (a Qadiyani)as the first foreign minister of Pakistan but he did not attend his funeral conducted by a Sunni scholar Shabeer Ahmed Usmani, considering Mr Jinnah as non-Muslim (non-Ahmadi). In a hypothetical scenario as far as the integration of the Qadiyanis with the rest of the Muslim community is concerned the doors for the non-Ahmadis are shut

A London based magazine wrote: ‘The National Assembly (in 1974) would go to remove a long standing but an unnecessary anomaly. The decision would serve only to formalise the de facto even de jure position. The problem had arisen not because the Muslims in some fit of orthodoxy or fanaticism wanted to ‘excommunicate’ any group of people. Its origin, on the other hand, lay in the assumption by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadiyan of Messiahship, and prophet-hood and consequently, branding those who did not believe in him to be outside the pale of his Islam

In 1935 Sir Mohammad Iqbal (national poet of Pakistan), a lawyer and philosopher asked the British Government to declare the Qadiyanis as separate community just as they done with the Sikhs. Sir Iqbal said, ‘the Qadiyanis while pursuing a policy of separation in religion and social matters ‘, however, anxious to remain politically with the fold. The Qadiyanis will never take initiative for separation’, argued Sir Iqbal because their small number (56,000) according to 1931 census would not entitle them ‘even to a single seat in any legislature. The Qadiyanis asked the British Government that, ‘our rights too should be recognised like those of Parsees and Christians reported (Al Fadhi 13th November 1946 – Ahmadi publication)

A large number of Ahamdis have shunned their heretic views and re-joined the Muslim faith. They were all received with open arms, smiling faces and warm hearts. The doors for the rest are open

I hope this clarify the situation as the problem is not with the Pakistani Muslims but with the Ahmadis themselves who use every trick to mislead foreign governments to get attention, funding and citizenships. It is widely known that after receiving Western and/or US nationalities first destination of the Ahmadis is Pakistan, very country which they present as dangerous for them live!

More recently gross misuse of the Human Rights and Immigration laws by the Ahmadis with the pretext that they have been victimised in Pakistan by the larger Muslim population. In fact, that has never been the case as they are allowed to practise their faith freely, they are allowed to contest elections and unlike other citizens have two votes – one for general seats and the other for special seats reserved for religious minorities in the parliament. Incidents of discrimination reported to US State Department, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and British Parliament and Home Offices are personal fights due to criminal behaviours and offensive provocations have nothing to do with religion or beliefs to fool the immigration authorities. The continuous feeding of this type of reports build up and image in the country guidance reports for the immigration judges and officials. We can not rule out the bias of the above mentioned. They have not condemned use of excessive force of tanks and chemical gas against the French Green Vest protesters in Paris in December 2018
